Research stage in Canada

Credit that looks at how you actually manage money

Millions of Canadians pay 20 percent or more on credit cards, even when they pay rent and bills on time. We are exploring a fairer way to consolidate debt, based on your real habits, not just a credit score.

Free to join. Not a loan application. No credit check.

Where things stand: thrifti is an idea at the research stage. We do not offer loans or credit today, and joining the waitlist is not an application. We are talking to people first to learn whether this would really help.

The problem

Paying your bills should count for something

One bad month lasts for years

A job loss or a medical bill can lower your credit score for a long time, even after life is back on track.

A lower score costs more

A lower score usually means higher interest. That makes debt harder to pay off, even when you pay every month.

Rent often does not count

Credit scores often ignore years of paying rent, utilities and your phone bill on time.

How it would work

A score you can understand

The idea is a transparent score, called the CARE Score, built from five things you can see and control.

How we use AI: today the CARE Score is a simple set of rules that anyone can read, not AI. We are exploring how AI could help people understand and improve their money habits. If we use it, we will say where and how, and a person will always be able to review a decision.
